Full-stack Developer

About the job 

You're eager to put your impressive coding skills to good use in the energy transition.

 

As a full-stack developer at Urbio, you will own the interface between frontend and backend, focusing in particular on functionalities that require knowledge of both parts, but depending on the roadmap, you will also work on more one-sided tasks. You will both conceptualize and implement new functionalities from scratch, as well as optimize features for scale and speed.

 

You will be part of one of our product teams and collaborate in particular with product owner, other frontend developers, and data or energy engineers within your team.

Responsibilities

Your tasks are to...

  • take full ownership and responsibility for building, shipping, and maintaining core Urbio features

  • have an eye for user experience and design, contributing with your ideas and carefully reproducing agreed mockups

  • contribute to a clear and consistent API

  • deliver clean and maintainable code, striving for modularity and reusability

  • constantly increase the reliability of Urbio with automatic tests

  • participate actively in the product development with your technical expertise

Qualifications

For this position you need to...

  • have 3+ years experience as Software Developer with building technically complex B2B software contributing hands-on to...

  • ... frontend (ideally React, HTML, CSS)

  • ... backend (ideally Django Rest Framework)

  • be firm with agile processes

  • take ownership of your tasks, always striving for the right balance between doing things right & getting work done

  • be an outgoing person that is happy to help others

  • be proficient in English

  • have a Swiss working permit or be eligible to work in Switzerland

You’re a great fit if you...

  • have worked with geospatial software and libraries (e.g. Mapbox, GeoDjango, Shapely)

  • have a basic knowledge about (Geo)Pandas

  • have experience with applications in the context of energy and/or real estate

 

You are a software developer with strong interest in energy topics or an energy engineer turned software developer. Being eager to build software that solves real-world problems, you are not afraid to step out of your comfort zone and work on fast-paced and complex projects both independently and in a team. In our currently small team, the ability to multi-task is crucial to rapidly provide hotfixes while not losing sight of long-term developments.

Location & time
  • We meet 2+ days per week in our office in Sion and/or co-working spaces in Zurich or Lausanne.
